3D ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY USING A 3D POSITIONER
Osamu Oshiro, Masayuki Nambu, Kunihiro Chihara · 1998
This paper describes a three-dimensional(3D) echocardiography, where an ultrasound(US) brightness- mode imag;e(B-mode image) triggered with &wave of elec- trocardiogram(ECG) was obtained with an ultrasound di- agnostic device and the position and orientation of a US probe were measured with a 3D positioner at the same time. The obtained B-mode image was then projected onto a virtual 3D space. Furthermore, a 3D image was presented on a CRT and stored in virtual reality modeling language(VRML). We performed an experiment to recon- struct a 3D heart image on systole using this system. The experimental results demonstrate that the system enables to visualize the 3D structure of a heart viewing from any points and that this system has the availability for dynamic imaging and tele-medicine.
