Asanewspread spectrum system, anUltra WideBand technology hasattracted muchattention inhighspeed indoor multiple access radio communications. AnUWB communication system withchannel coding isnoticing foravoiding theperformance degradation duetoadverse channel propagation conditions. Inthispaper, we propose a novelpunctured low-density parity-check (LDPC)coding scheme forUWB systems. Differently fromtheconventional puncture coding, wepuncture the pulses after theUWB system repeating theLDPCcoded bits. Fromouranalysis andnumerical results, wefind this newschemegiveasignificant performance gain compared withtheconventional scheme. Furthermore, thereceiver construction issimpler since thepuncture position information isnotneeded.
