BBSM Software Installation Procedures

The Cisco Building Broadband Service Manager (BBSM) is a service creation system for the MxU market that enables simple, plug and play network access, end user self-provisioning of services, customizable portal and advertising platforms and web-based management. The BBSM system will allow a service provider (or enterprise acting as a service provider) to bill for access and have a choice between a variety of access methods for how the service will be authenticated and accounted for. In addition, BBSM can be used with a variety of infrastructures, including switched Ethernet, Long Range Ethernet (LRE), wireless LAN, and cable modems. One of the key features of BBSM is the ability to enable property owners and service providers to create tiered service bundles for targeted offerings to customers. The BBSM system is a platform for developing new service offerings to vertical building broadband applications. A BBSM software development kit (SDK) is made available through the Cisco web site. This chapter describes the step-by-step procedures for installing Building Broadband Service Manager (BBSM) on your server. During this process, you will also be installing Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 2, Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000, Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE), the AtNAT driver, and Windows 2000 Hotfixes.
