A constellation diagram is a representation of a two-dimensional x-y display which converts the data into a nodes and links plot. Link lines are used to describe the relationships among component nodes. The constellation diagram is a powerful tool for displaying clinical data.

®System provides a graphics macro in SAS/GRAPH ® called DS2CONST for users to create the constellation diagrams. The DS2CONST macro allows the users to specify the node’s location in the x-y coordinates. From these, the users can design the diagram layout to fit their needs. In this paper, different applications with different display layouts, such as tree structure, neural network diagram, interactive correlation matrix representation, and visualization of correlation matrix iteration processes, are discussed. The SAS constellation diagram also provides interactive features. The interactive features are very desirable and enable the user to: 1) change graph properties without rerunning the job, 2) pack extra relevant information to the output, and 3) control the subsetting nodes and links for the viewer to focus on stronger association nodes. The SAS v9 products used in this paper are SAS Base
