he wireless field is ever more exciting. We are facing tremendous growth rates in terms of subscribers, and unpreceted opportunities for new services and . ubiquitous connectivity. Despite the economic downturn of the past few years and a slow start, third-generation systems are now being deployed, and users will become familiar with a new communication paradigm in which .access to rich content and multimedia applications will be available even on the move without strict physical limitations. In parallel, wireless local area networks (WLANs) have found their way into the market and are now a popular means to provide high-speed wireless access in selected areas. Also, new communications concept are being deployed in which the classic vision of cellular telephone and wireless data networks is evolved in a more futuristic direction where smart spaccs and ambient intelligence will make our environment easier to interact with and will provide a means to take advantage of communications technologies in a much more natural and intuitive way.
