OpenMultimedia Application Platforms (OMAP), suchas161xand2420,aredualcoreprocessors withan Advanced RiskMachine(ARM)andafixed-point Digital Signal Processor (DSP).Thedecision ofissuing ornotpartofan application tobeexecuted bytheDSP coremustbecarefully made, because ofboth, theadditional complexity related tothe design process, andthetimeoverhead involved withcontrol and datatransfer between theARM andtheDSP.Inthis paper, we introduce a methodology to assessthe performance of applications whichusebothcores. Theresults oftheprofiling mightbeapplied tohelpdesigners map applications tothe platform cores. I.INTRODUCTION
