Performance of Fast Frequency Hopped Multiple Tone FSK over

In multiple tone-frequency shift keying (MT-FSK), frequency diversity is achieved by transmit- ting several tones simultaneously; thus it is a more pow- erful extension of the conventional M-ary FSK modula- tion. The signal set of the MT-FSK system is based on the balanced incomplete block design (BIB-design) from combinatorial theory so that only certain output signal combinations are admissible. In this paper we show that by combining the frequency diversity of MT-FSK sig- nals with the time diversity of a Fast Frequency Hopped (FFH) system, substantial improvements in performance are obtained.
