it Abstract Thegrowing availability ofwireless portable devices isleveraging thediffusion ofLocation Based Services (LBSs) that provide service con- tents depending onthecurrent position ofcli- ents, servers, andinvolved distributed resources. Whenawidepublic offinal users will useLBSs, twoprimary issues will emerge ascrucial: how toguarantee theproper level ofuserprivacy given theneedtodisclose, tosomeextent, client location information; howtoeffectively manage theexchange ofpositioning information (andof itsvariations) notwithstanding thehighhetero- geneity ofconnectivity technologies anddevice hardware/software capabilities. Thepaperpre- sents theprivacy-related extension ofourproxy- based mobile agent middleware tosupport per- sonalized service provisioning toWi-Fi portable devices. Inparticular, ourmiddleware prototype adopts a two-level proxy-based architecture to provide LBSswithmiddleware-mediated
