The selection of test sets to satisfy sofnvare testing criteria is a very important task. This task poses questions about quality and efJicacy of the generated test data. Constraint Based Criteria (CBC} for software testing are proposed. They permit to find errors other than the errors revealed by structural testing using distinct fundamentals of different test datu generation strategies. They can be used either to select test data sets with a high probability of revealing errors or as an assessment of test data set adequacy.
