PEX: A Reactive Procedure Based Decision Maker

C. Honnorat · 1991

In the field of procedural process control, reactivity may be crucial [Georgeff, Lansky, Schoppers 871. Now, one aspect of this problem is: “Is the procedure being currently executed still relevant with regard to the current state of the system to be controlled and the current objective ?”. In this paper we present a system called PEX Cfor Procedure Expert) relying on M.Georgeff s ideas [Georgeff 851. We introduce the concept of integrity context as a procedure relevance criterion to increase reactivity. This system has been applied to satellite control: a prototype (running on an Explorer 11) is connected to a satellite flight simulator and controls a critical orbit correction maneuvre.
