Location discovery istodetermine thecoordinates ofnodesina sensor-actor networks whichrefer toa group ofsensors andactors linked bywireless mediumtoperform distributed sensing andacting tasks. Mostpreviously proposed algorithms totheproblem assumethatnodesaredeployed in planar area. However, thesealgorithms areunabletolocate nodesofthree-dimensional networks. Inthispaper, we present analternating combination quadrilateration algorithm basedon therelative position ofnodesforthree-dimensional deployment. Our algorithm determines thelocation ofunknownnodes byemploying nonoutlier tetrahedrons, weighted function and weighted polyhedron. Thisalgorithm canalsobeapplied to two-dimensional networks. Furthermore, itcansignificantly improve thelocalization accuracy. Numerical simulations verify itsperformance androbustness.
