OnModifying Logic Networks to Improve TheirDiagnosability

This paperconsiders theuseofcontrol logic toreduce the numberoftests required byalogic network andtosimplify test generation. Theproperties ofEXCLUSIVE-OR (EOR)circuits as control elements areexamined. Systematic procedures arepresented for modifying anycombinational orsequential networksothatthe resulting network requires onlyfivetests. Thesetests caneasily be generated using asetofpredefined testpatterns oflength five. The design ofdiagnosable networks using alimited amount ofcontrol logic isalso discussed.
