Segmentation Algorithms for Thyroid Scintigraphy Images

Image segmentation is an important tool in medical Image processing as it provides information about an object clinically in terms of size and shape. Scintigraphy is thyroid diagnostic test done in nuclear department. The thyroid scintigraphy images helps to determine the size and shape of thyroid. In this paper, three segmentation algorithms namely Active contour without edges, localized active contour without edges, Distance regularized level set are discussed along with their comparison and results.
