A crucial parameter in the design of QoS (Quality of Service) routers is the periodicity with which the nodes have to broadcast messages about possible changes in the bandwidth availability of the links. In this work it is presented a simple method for the adaptive control of this broadcast process in QoS routers. In particular, the method modifies the triggering condition of the update process aiming to stabilise the overload provoked by the update messages. The benefits of the method are shown in a realistic network in terms of bandwidth loss probability and update rate. 1.
