Abstract: A Study on SRC XOR Packet Marking Method

Spoofed IP address traceback techniques are needed and are interesting to many organizations because they are very effective against DoS, DDoS, and scanning attack detections. Until now, however, most research results stayed just in the level of researches and they were very difficult for practical uses. For that reasons, the Internet must apply specific method to protect legitimate users. Therefore, this research suggests the SRC XOR packet marking method for effective spoofed IP address detection and traceback. Also, this research performs comparison with other method to show efficiency and affectivity.
