A Service Oriented Middleware Architecture for Wireless Sensor Networks
Hamidreza Abangar, Payam Barnaghi, Klaus Moessner, Rahim Tafazolli · 2010
Increasingly distributed sensor networks and in particular Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) platforms are available on the market, these platforms usually implement protocols such as 6LowPan or other IEEE 802.15 based protocols. This leads to a certain degree of heterogeneity which in turn limits the potential interoperability between the individual nodes and platforms. This paper argues for a middleware platform that closes this interoperability gap. It discusses the range of potential technologies that could be deployed and evaluates their advantages and disadvantages. Finally it provides a SOA based middle approach along with the description of a proof of concept implementation.
