A NOVEL CREATINGMETHOD OFGROUND BLOCKAGE DATABASEBY CIVILGPS RECEIVERSASDISTRIBUTEDSENSORS

Masato Takahashi · 2006

A newframework isproposed anddemonstrated where satellite visible coverage seenfromrunning vehicle is economically andeffectively estimated withsuchlowcost GPSsatellite signal receivers like civil automobiles are equipped with. Ourpreliminary experiment indicated even economical LIC/A1.5GHz civil GPSreceivers cancreate enough precise database ofground feature blockage, if onlytwostatistical parameters theauthor proposed are adequately set. Integrating theseries oftheauthor group's efforts onthis research field, itisexpected feasible to develop an automatic database creation systemin cooperation withthegovernment andthecivil vehicles withlowcostcivil GPSreceivers. Thisblockage database enables ustomakeareal-time blockage prediction and feasible handover control inlandvehicle satellite communication infuture.
