Data encryption is not the only safe way to protect data from penetration. There has emerged a set of new technologies that provides protection with or without data encryption technology such as data hiding. The word Steganography (from Greek steganos, or covered, and graphie, or writing) is the hiding of undisclosed message (such as text) within an ordinary message (such as image). This paper compares, analyses and evaluate Least Significant Bit (LSB) algorithm using the cover object as an image with a focus on three types: JPEG, BMP and GIF. The evaluation are done with deference number of criteria (Efficient when amount of data reasonable, Percentage Distortion less resultant image, Steganalysis detection, Amount of embedded data, Robustness against image manipulation, Invisibility, Robustness against statistical attacks, Unsuspicious files) to understand their strengths and weaknesses.
