Pressure-sensitive paint (PSP)methods toob- tain surface pressure mapsoveraerodynamic testing mod- elsarebeinginvestigated bya numberofresearchers. WhilePSPtechniques offer potential advantages overcon- ventional tapmeasurements, theygenerally suffer froma poorsignal tonoise ratio ofthemeasurements. Onepowerful tool tofilter outnoise fromsignals isthe discrete wavelet transform. Inthepresent work, discrete wavelet transform filter bankprocessing isapplied toasig- nalobtained fromatime-resolved pointwise PSPmeasure- mentinashock-induced unsteady flow. Thewavelet trans- formproves effective infiltering noise fromaperiodic, un- steady PSPsignals. Thepresent results showtheimpor- tanceofselecting thenumberofdecomposition levels for bestprocessing performance.
