Message from the Workshop Chair of FSC 2009

2009

Scalability is a desirable quality for contemporary and future computing and communication systems and becomes one of the most important considerations during the design and deployment of these systems. With the rapid increases in the information volume and system complexity, new architecture and techniques are required to support the scalable computing and communications. The FSC 2009 Workshop consists of invited papers in the field of scalable communications. The goal of FSC 2009 is to provide an additional forum within ScalCom 2009 for interaction among researchers and further discussion on the scalable communication. All submissions were reviewed by at least 2 committee members or external reviewers. It was an extremely difficult task selecting papers for presentation at the workshop due to many excellent and interesting submissions. We congratulate the authors of accepted papers however a number of high quality submissions could not be included in the proceedings for publication. We believe all of these papers and topics will not only provide novel ideas, new results, work in progress and state-of-the-art techniques in this field, but also stimulate the future research activities in the area of scalable computing for science and engineering applications. The program for this workshop is the result of hard and excellent work of authors, reviewers and program committee members. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all authors for their valuable contributions and external reviewers for their cooperation in completing the workshop program under a very tight schedule.
