'CASE' Computer Assisted Sentencing in Magistrates' Courts

This paper provides the background to the development of a computer system to assist with the sentencing of offenders in Magistrates' Courts. In particular, the problems addressed by the system and the manner in which the system is implemented are described. The relevance of jurisprudence and of computer programming languages and techniques is discussed. A presentation of the computer system will be given.
