TrucStudio -- Refactoring TrucSharing
Gerry Kammerer · 2009
TrucStudio is a software tool that helps instructors managing and structuring knowledge about an area of teaching. With TrucStudio, the concepts of an educational domain can be arranged into clusters, Trucs and notions. Clusters model knowledge areas and may contain sub clusters and Trucs. Trucs or ”Testable, Reusable Units of Cognitions ” describe the main conceptual units of a teaching domain. Every Truc contains a set of notions, which represent specific facets of the enclosing Truc. A key element in modelling a domain is the definition of dependencies. TrucStudio allows illustrating what prerequisites are relevant to learn concepts. The tool supports managing courses, it offers facilities to schedule lectures and fill them with notions of relevant Trucs. An important facility to improve the quality and quantity of the collected and structured data in the area of teaching is the TrucSharing mechanism. It offers the possibility to share projects with other instructors and to concurrently work on them with a versioning system similar to Subversion. Several previous projects led to adaptations in the underlying data model.
