Interactive High-Level Language Direct-Execution

It isourhabit inwriting anEnglish composition that, as wewrite eachword, eachphrase, eachsentence, andeachparagraph, we consciously orunconsciously checkthesyntax andthesemantics of thecomposition justwritten. Writing acomputer program inahigh- level language could bemadesimilar towriting acomposition inEnglish. Inthis case, ahighly interactive highlevel language system checks the syntax andthesemantics ofthehighlevel language program aseach symbol, eachexpression, andeachstatement arebeing entered atthe terminal. Whenthesource program iscompletely entered, theprogram could havebeendebugged andcould haverunonce. Thispaperintroduces suchahighly interactive high-evel language systemanditsapplication tothemicroprocessor system.Itfirst classifi'es three typesofinteractive systems. Itthenpresents somede- sign concepts ofanexperimental interactive high-evel language direct- execution system (IHLLDE). Itnextdescribes someimplementation results ofthis interactive system onanIntel microprocessor system. Finally, considerations ofdesigning aninteractive language andaninter- active interpreter arediscussed.
