Inourbiometric verification systemofa smartgun,therightful userofa gunisauthenticated bygrip-pattern recognition. Inthisworkverification willbedoneusingtwotypesofcomparison methods, respectively. Oneismean-template comparison, where thematching scorebetween atestimageandasubject iscomputed, bycomparing thetestimagetothemean valueoftraining samples ofthissubject. Theotherone ismaximum-pairwise comparison, wherethematching score between atest imageandasubject isselected asthe maximum,amongallthesimilarity scores resulting from comparison betweenthetestimageandeachtraining sampleofthissubject. Experimental results showthat a muchlowerfalse-acceptance ratecanbeobtained attherequired false-rejection rateofoursystemus- ingmaximum-pairwise comparison, thanmean-template comparison.
