Whilethere exist manyconventional methods forPID auto-tuning, This paper will stricly focus onproviding the basic ideas onhowyouwouldconstruct afuzzy PID auto-tuner. Simple fuzzy rules maybeused. Conventional gain scheduling involves using extra information fromthe plant, environment, oruser totune(via schedules) the gains ofacontroller. These control designs provide aset ofgains forthecontroller ateachoperating condition. A gain schedule issimply aninterpolator that takes asinputs theoperating condition andprovides values ofthegains as itsoutputs. Thispaperanalyses thestructure ofan important class oftwodimensional fuzzy controllers on theother hand. Wehaveestablished conditions, someare necessary andsufficient while others aresufficient, under whichthisclass offuzzy controllers arestructurally equivalent tothenonlinear PIorPD(PID) controllers with variable gains. Thesomefuzzy controllers areactually nonlinear PI,PDcontrollers withvariable gains that can outperform linear counterparts.
