IMAGE SEGMENTATION USING DYNAMIC DIRECTION PREDICTION
Y.B. Chen · 2002
This work proposes a scheme to expedite the process of finding the contour of an object. Regardless of the image size or whether if the target area is closed-end, the user only needs to select two initi al points near the boWldaries of an object to search for its contour. TlDle spent in manually selectin g the initial points would then be greatly reduced. By using the dynamic direction prediction to further analyze the neighboring points near the boWldary points, the proposed scheme effectively reduces the computational complexity. Furthennore, the drawback of being easily interfered with nois es, as seen in the conventional segmentation schemes, is also improved in the proposed scheme. Hence, the scheme proposed herein can be widely used for various applications of image segmentation to achieve high-speed and reliable performances.
