Scanning-BasedPre-Processing

RFID isa generic termfortechnologies which useRF wavestoidentify, track, orcategorize anyobject. One oftheresearch areasinRFID systems isa taganti-collision protocol; howtoreduce identification timewithagiven number oftagsinthefield ofanRFID reader. Therearetwotypes oftaganti-collision protocols forRFID systems: treebased algorithms andslotted alohabasedalgorithms. Thispaper proposes amethodforenhancing theperformance ofthepresent RFID taganti-collision protocols by scanning thepositions ofcollided bitsand onceaccessing fewmemoriesattags toinformthepositions. Sinceanyofthepresent RFID tag anti-collision protocols withthescanning-based pre-processing canignore theoverhead fromno collided bits, theanalytic results showthatscanning-based pre-processing elicits lower timeconsumption fortagidentification fromthepresent schemes.
