Faouzi Bellili · 2007
A newmethodforsignal-to-noise ratio (SNR)esti- mationisconsidered whenmultiple receiving antenna elements receive quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM)signals in complex additive whitegaussian noise(AWGN)spatially and temporally white(uncorrelated between antennaelements). In this paper, wealsopresent theextension ofotherexisting me- thods totheSingle Input Multiple Output (SIMO)configuration. Theprocedure isnon-data-aided (NDA)since itisamoment- basedmethodanddoesnotrequire, therefore, thea priori knowledge orthedetection ofthetransmitted symbols. Monte Carlosimulations areusedtoestimate thenormalized rootmean square error(NRMSE)asameasureofperformance. Thenew methodisshowntooutperform thebestNDA moment-based SNRestimation methods, namelytheM2M4 andGao'smethods evenwhentheyareextended totheSIMOconfiguration.
