A Fuzzy Ontology Extension of WordNet and EuroWordnet for Specialized Knowledge
Juan Gómez‐Romero, Fernando Bobillo · 2012
The integration of linguistic and domain-oriented knowledge resources is a common task in many current projects with NLP objec- tives. WordNet and EuroWordNet oer large lexical resources for such purposes. Nevertheless, their exploitation in conjunction with specialized knowledge is still a non-trivial task. We propose to use fuzzy ontologies, which combine Fuzzy Logic theory and Description Logics, to represent the imprecise notions of prototypicality and representativeness with re- gards to synset membership, hyponymy and equivalence. We show that this approach is particularly appropriate to combine WordNet with other specic terminological resources, such as the environmental knowledge base EcoLexicon.
