Issues in a User Access Management System

A. ShHferstein · 1988

Current efforts in end-user computing are focused in part on the need to provide more facile access to information, rather than individual systems and data. User Access Management System (UAMS) technology gives an underlying framework for this access. A UAMS is a network component that interfaces between the end· user and one or more applications residing on local or remote hosts. The UAMS provides services and capabilities such as network address resolution, user interface management system (UIMS), device independence, and automated information access, In this paper, we provide our definition of a UAMS, and describe a variety of issues germane to the on-going exploration of this technology.
