SEMANTIC ENRICHMENT OF QUERIES WITH GENERIC AND SPECIFIC TERMS IN THE DEFINITION SENTENCES

Increasing the relevance of the results of research tools remains a real challenge for users and resea rchers in the field of information retrieval. To overcome thi s problem, several studies have been conducted, mai nly in the methods and techniques that focus on the tre atment and the reformulation of queries, to meet th e needs of the users. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the improvement of approaches to reformulate queries by semantic enrichment based on definition sentences. Definitions and terminology have several features a nd components that can be used in information retri eval, especially in the enrichment of queries. The essent ial components of the definition sentences are gene ric and specific terms. Our approach consists of exploi ting the definition sentences making use of their g eneric and specific terms.
