A combined thermo-hydraulic approach to simulation of active building components applying Modelica

Alexander Hoh, Timo Haase, Thomas Tschirner, Dirk Müller · 2005

Optimization of building climatisation systems often leads to usage of large-area heat exchangers: Economical and environmental advantages result from the low temperature differences needed for heating and cooling. Simulation models containing such heat exchangers embedded in wall layers demand for a coupled consideration of hydraulic and thermodynamic phenomena. For that reason the HermannRietschel-Institut developed new tools for building simulation with combined thermo-hydraulic capabilities, based on the free Modelica library “ATplus”.
