Screen saver and background distribution
David D. Lewis · 2012
The number and type of computers in the modern world is always increasing, standardizing the image that these machines portray can therefore be difficult to implement across an enterprise or any other sizable organization. This projects remit is to create a system capable of creating and deploying branded screensavers and wallpapers across one of these organizations. The operating environment used in this project is ‘Microsoft Windows’ however the design revolves around an XML based configuration file and other web technologies which are easily ported to other operating systems. The generation and deployment programs will allow non-technical users to create and deploy screensavers and backgrounds. This will free up technical staff for other tasks and reduce the need to employ outside entities for branding and design tasks. The system could also be employed in a digital signage capacity allowing for up to date and branded information to be quickly deployed simultaneously over multiple signs.
