A SIMULATION FRAMEWORK TO SUPPORT GROUND PLANNERS TASK DEFINITION

Pierre Langlois, Stephane Beaudry, Matthieu Landry, Pascal Beaudry · 2006

A compromise between these extremes is to allow the rover to take real-time calls in response to environmental factors or non-nominal events, and reorder the mission tasks to maximize the rover’s return. Such re-planning must be carried out according to certain rules to ensure the mission objectives are met. It is possible to carry out this type of ground validation using any re-planner that will make repeatable decisions given identical circumstances. This paper will describe a scheme where the ground planner can assess the risk associated with a given set of tasks by looking at the impacts of failures and environmental parameters.
