CS1 is a crucial Computer Science (CS) course that directly affects CS students' successes in their higher level courses. This paper explores the teaching enhancement methods that address the uneven students' backgrounds with a U-shaped distribution. We present the new developed teaching methods that specifically address the teaching challenge of the uncommon student body in the classroom. We use the exams, the final grades, the student evaluations and their testimonies to evaluate our new course design.
