Conversation has elicited significant research interest among social scientists. During the past decade, scholars have primarily focused on classifying strategic speech acts and identifying influence goals within conversation. Although significant in scope, such research foci have limited the analysis of conversation to classifying variables and correlating them with isolated behaviors within problematic situations.
