7 ‘Matching’ corpus data and system networks: using corpora to modify and extend the system networks for transitivity in English

This paper describes a study of verb senses in English and the stages involved in modelling a central aspect of them. The approach taken here attempts to model verb senses in a generative computer program that makes use of the choice-centred concept of the system network.
