The use of an Combined signal processing (CSP) is presented as a means to improve the performance of a slotted ALOHA satellite communication network. Combined signal processing creates a strong capture effect at a packet radio terminal by automatically steering the receive antenna pattern (AP) toward one packet and nulling other contending packets in a slot. Moreover, if in a main beam AP an one interfering packet gets, it can be suppressed by the polarization filter. Is shown, that in satellite communication network with small (10-15)/sup /spl deg// corner of arrival of radio-signals the application CSP improves the delay and throughput performance on 10-15 % in comparison with an adaptive antenna array.
