Fibre-radio: a new technique for delivering cordless access services
A.J. Cooper · 2002
A four-channel CT2-based fibre-radio system has been demonstrated as a practical technique for interconnecting radio DPs (distribution points) and switching centres to facilitate the provision of a cordless access service. The system delivered a dynamic range of 51 dB, which is appropriate for a mobile range of 150 m. The advantages of a fibre-radio system include reduced complexity and size of the radio DP, capacity/resource sharing and simplification of installation and maintenance procedures. Techniques for further improving the performance of the fibre-radio system are highlighted together with options for networking cordless access with other services.>
