Computational aspects in local image denoising and reconstruction with correlated errors

SYNOPTIC ABSTRACTIn a range of imaging problems, effective algorithm is critical for image denoising and reconstruction. It becomes more important when images are blurred with spatially correlated noises. In this paper, we review multivariate local regression models for the use of image denoising and reconstruction, and propose an “indirect” algorithm for image denoising with spatially correlated errors. We discuss the effective computation of the algorithm in order to reduce the computational burden for high-dimensional problems. Finally, the resulting algorithm and analyses are illustrated with a case study.
