MS/sup 3/ : Micro-rollback and Self-recovery System Synthesis

Byung Wook Jeon, Chidchanok Lursinsap · 2005

Although high level synthesis is a relatively well understood methodology in design automation areu, little has been reported about the reliablility aspect of the system. This paper presents a novel approach for high level synthesis u~itli micro-rollback and self-recovery technique tuliose objective is to generate D reliable system from the behauiorill specifications. The approach is for-niulnted as U rollbuck point insertion problem after scliecltrling. The scliedulingproblem is attacked by using a heuristic ineihod witli the statistical analysis on th,e cumzilative frequency distribution of operations among control steps. The r~llbacl; point insertion problem is resolved on the bnsis of a probability iu,nction that rollback points can be inserted. This fumfion allows us not only lo seur-ch the problem spiice eficsently but also to avoid the exhci~rstive seorch.
