Iris Detection for Energy Conservation

Harvard Law School's energy manager, Eric Potkin, found that reducing your computer screen brightness from 100% to 70% can save up to 20% of the energy the monitor uses [1]. It is easy mathematics to see that reducing the brightness to 0%, when possible can result in efficient energy utilization. This could be the case when the user is not looking at the display screen but the screen is on. These scenarios may arise when – a process which does not involve the user is being carried out. In this project, we will be using the Hough Transform technique to detect the Iris in real-time. If not detected, the system will execute a batch file, which will reduce the brightness of the display screen to 0%. When the iris is detected once again, the brightness will be increased to a 70%, after which the user may increase or decrease it, as he prefers.
