Approximate formula for evaluating Erlang capacityof CDMA systems with smart antennas

An approximate formula is developed for evaluating the uplink traffic capacity of code division multiple access (CDMA) systems which employ smart antennas. The simulation results support the validity of this formula. It is shown that the use of smart antennas significantly improves the traffic capacity.
