Community lnformation Services: A View of the Theoretical Foundations

This paper traces the emergence of Community lnformat~on Services and describes their theoretical foundations. Terms and concepts are defined. Various types of alternative service and their distinguishing chata~t~ristics and functions are described and a case is made for promoting this type of service at the present time.
