Robust adaptive matched-field-processing

Matched-field-processing (MFP) includes the acoustic environmental information in the estimate of an array steering vector. Adaptive processing uses the instantaneous measured signal and noise vectors (fields) to minimize the contributions from those components that do not match the steering vector. Adaptive MFP, then, is an optimal method for source localization and detection. But, when there is mismatch between the actual (measured) signal vector and the replica (calculated) vector, there is a serious degradation in the performance of adaptive MFP. Several algorithms have been developed to reduce this sensitivity to mismatch.>
