Optimally designed wavelet for de-noising of spect image with application in nuclear medicine

Ali Fayazi · 2011

Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) imaging provides functional information and precise physiological uptake of radioactivity in a patient's body. In this paper an optimally designed wavelet approach is considered for noise reduction applications of noisy SPECT image in which design scheme is parameterized to insure sparsity of wavelet coefficients is insured as much as possible. The results of optimal denoising are compared with the use of orthogonal Db wavelets under optimum thresholding measured by SNR under different noise levels. The result of simulation indicates the efficiency of proposed method.
