Prototyping of Medical Image Analysis Algorithms in a Functional Language

This paper describes a prototyping environment for image analysis, constructed by the marriage of low-level, `C' coded image processing routines and the functional programming language Miranda. This combination provides a secure and purely functional programming environment, whilst maintaining reasonable efficiency.
