STAREX SELF-REPAIR ROUTINES: SOFTWARE RECOVERY IN THE JPL-STAR COMPUTER

John A. Rohr · 2005

Software recovery after fault detection and hardware self-repair in the JPL-STAR computer is described in the context of the self-repair routines in STAREX, the resident executive for the computer. The JPL-STAR computer is a fault-tolerant digital computer which includes hardware self-repair c apability. The software self-repair routines augment the hardware selfrepair features by controlling the memory configuration, handling state vector storage for user programs, and resuming computation after self-repair. A definition of software coverage and an empirical method of measuring it are given. age of STAREX is considered. Finally, the software cover
