Traffic experimentation in ATM testbed

The authors describe an exploratory system that has been developed to demonstrate the ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) capabilities for multimedia services support. Integral parts of the testbed are a controllable traffic generator and measurement capabilities which enable a wide range of multimedia traffic performance experimentation. These allow experimentation with several ATM traffic issues that are difficult to address analytically. Lessons learned and sample results are presented.>
