Performance of DS-SS-CDMA systems using partial power control and a base station antenna array

John E. Miller, Scott L. Miller · 2002

We explore the use of an adaptive antenna array at a DS-SS-CDMA base station receiver to enhance uplink receiver performance and lessen the near/far effect due to transmit power control errors among the system users. Results are presented in terms of average bit-error rate and average outage probability. A signal model is formulated which allows limits on power control error and assumes multiple, spatially constrained sources exist in a single circular cell. Simulation results show that an adaptive antenna array at the base station receiver can compensate for transmit power control error described by this signal model.
